Bulgarian Aquatic Encyclopaedia is the first and the largest web site related to the aquatic hobby in Bulgaria. It was founded in 2004 and as the time passed the site’s forum gathered an incredible team of friends and enthusiasts.
In the beginning most of the site’s founders were enthusiasts of the Dutch style aquariums. Later that group of aquarists became the core of much larger circle of enthusiasts interested in the modern aquascaping.
We started organizing forum contests and in the same time our aquascapers were participating in the most world aquatic contests.
We regularly participate in the IAPLC and three of our members have qualified in the first 100 in 2007. Plamen Petrov was a winner in the international aquascape contest AGA 2006.
In 2010 we have organized our first aquascape contest.
The members of the jury were Balin Show, Jason Balliban and Phil Edwards.
This contest was very successful and has attracted a lot of interest. For this reason we have decided to enlarge it by inviting aquatic enthusiasts from the rest of the countries in our region – the Balkan Peninsula.
We hope to share our hobby interests with our neighbours.
The members of the jury for this year are Oliver Knott from Germany, George Farmer from the UK and Luis Navarro from the USA.
The idea for the International Balkan Aquascape Contest (IBAC) is very new and this is its first edition. We hope that it will become a very good tradition.
The aquascaping hobby has become an art gaining more and more supporters around the world.
We welcome all enthusiasts to share this art and show their layouts in our contest.
